About Christine

In 2021, I moved from my hometown of San Diego, CA, to Houston, TX — a significant transition that opened my heart more than ever before to the motherhood of the Church. In particular, her longstanding heritage of visual beauty began to hold my attention, and I found myself captivated by the mysterious and ancient tradition of painting and venerating sacred images.

At the time, I was an amateur watercolorist and dabbled in various other creative hobbies, but always felt a little aimless in these and longed for more grounding in my creativity. When I discovered that iconography was a tradition still very much alive and well, something came alive in me and I felt an invitation to meet the Lord in sacred art.

In 2023, I attended a workshop under the instruction of Kara Gillette of Sophia Icon Studio; about a year later, I took up more intentional studies to begin learning the history, theology, and techniques of iconography; soon after, in God’s providence, I began receiving inquiries for commissions.

I now get to call the painting of holy images my work, and I spend my days studying and creating from the home I share with my husband Zach and our baby on the way (December 2025). With every icon I paint, I seek to maintain a posture of obedience to the tradition which has preserved these treasures of the Church for centuries, and so I am always referencing the masters, both past and present, to inform my painting. Intermingled with this is a spirit of dependence upon the Lord’s active inspiration and a love for the heritage of co-creation which the faithful still enjoy today.

Above all, I am compelled by the idea of iconography as a living tradition: a continuation of and sharing in our ancestors’ experience and expression of true Beauty, ever ancient and ever new.

Thank you for stopping by, and please pray for me and all sacred artists in our work! May Jesus and all his Saints greet you warmly and lead you to holiness through the holy images.
